With 2020 squarely in our rearview mirror, we were hoping that 2021 would bring some glimmer of normalcy and a return to our daily routines. The Virtual 2020 Allstate Sugar Bowl Crescent City Classic was born out of the desire to maintain an Easter tradition forty-three years in the making.
We truly believed that we’d be able to produce a 2021 Classic. We explored options in both Orleans and Jefferson Parishes. We toyed with various routes and capacities. We had meetings with both parishes, taking their input and trying to mold it into our plans.
The announcement that the State of Louisiana was moving back into a modified Phase 2 for the foreseeable future even further limited our options. To this end, we are announcing that the 2021 Allstate Sugar Bowl Crescent City Classic will once again be a virtual event. I fully realize that is not what the running community had hoped for. It’s not what we wanted either, but it is an avenue for our runners and walkers to virtually participate until we can run and walk together again.
We hope you’ll continue your fitness routines and take advantage of our virtual offerings. Your support is vital to ensure we produce virtual and in-person events for years to come. We’re working towards the ability to stage live races in the fall of 2021.
See you on the roads.
For 40+ years, it has combined world class competition, amateur participation and great fun for all participants. Starting in 1979 with 902 participants, the Allstate Sugar Bowl Crescent City Classic has grown to become the preeminent fitness event in Louisiana.
The Classic has been praised in every major running publication as “one of America’s fastest 10k’s”, “the originator of the party race”, “an Easter Weekend tradition that should never be missed” and “a great race, on a beautiful course in America’s most unique city”.
All CCC events are produced by the Crescent City Fitness Foundation, a not-for-profit entity whose sole purpose is to promote health, fitness, and a better lifestyle for the people of the New Orleans metropolitan area.
